Jaleh Shea was appointed as the City of Chesapeake’s Director of Planning in December 2012. She previously served as the Community Programs Manager for the Chesapeake Bureau of Community Programs from January 2011 to November 2012. She served as the City’s Comprehensive Planning Administrator from 2001 to 2011 where she led numerous long range planning initiatives for the City including the Forward Chesapeake Comprehensive Plan.
She continues to serve as an Adjunct Instructor in Old Dominion University’s College of Business and Public Administration where she teaches Methods of Urban Planning. Ms. Shea is recognized as a Certified Planner by the American Planning Association and is a recipient of the American Society for Public Administration’s Julian Hirst Award for Distinguished Public Service. She holds a Master of Public Administration from Old Dominion University and a Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies and Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University.
