Calib Miller was born and raised in Blanchester, Ohio, a rural village outside Cincinnati. Calib spent his youth playing baseball and football while dodging chores in the family garden. Upon graduation, Calib served as an active-duty reconnaissance marine, earning 2 commendations: one for superior performance as an instructor and another for actions taken in combat. Calib also received 2 letters of appreciation from allied nations; it was this interaction with foreign lifestyles and traditional agricultural practices that inspired Calib’s professional journey to move towards sustainability and community resilience. Calib paid for graduate school by working in transportation & warehousing, learning food logistics and cold chain monitoring procedures. Calib also spent a year on an educational farm to discover how to manage local organic farm production operations hands on. In total, Calib has over a decade of project management experience, 3 years of nonprofit management experience and 3 years of sustainable food systems management. Calib recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Green Mountain College, earning his Master of Science Degree in Sustainable Food Systems. Calib is a lifetime member of the Oath Keepers, an avid community volunteer and a NAUI advanced SCUBA diver. Calib has a cat named Mascot and a dog named Bodhi who both look forward to lending a paw in support of a community garden near YOU! Outside work, Calib enjoys reading and travelling, having visited 15 countries across 5 continents (so far). Calib looks forward to helping rebuild Chesapeake’s local food system, being an advocate for fellow veterans, and adding new stamps to his passport!
