Shirley Forbes is the Government and Community Relations Administrator for Chesapeake Regional Healthcare. As a healthcare advocate, Shirley works in Richmond during the annual Virginia General Assembly session with legislators across the Commonwealth. Shirley organizes several events throughout the year to keep our local and state legislators aware of the ongoing challenges facing the healthcare community and Chesapeake Regional Healthcare.
Shirley’s work at Chesapeake Regional Healthcare also involves chairing the very popular
Bra-ha-ha. Shirley and her committee have raised over $500,000 since 2011 to provide free mammograms and breast related services to women in need across Hampton Roads.
Shirley has been recognized over the years for her community service by receiving awards like the Chesapeake Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year for partnering with Chesapeake Public Schools in introducing and implementing Character Education curriculum in the classroom. Other prominent awards include Chesapeake Martin Luther King Leadership Award, the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year Award for her work with Bra-ha-ha, and in 2015 she was the co-recipient of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce Women’s Division Woman of the Year.
Shirley currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the National Congressional Prayer Caucus Foundation and is a member of the Chesapeake Rotary Club.
Shirley is the wife of Congressman Randy Forbes. She and Randy are lifelong residents of Chesapeake. They have four children and three grandchildren.
